The short answer
A VR cam broadcast needs exactly one camera class - the VR camera produced by Dreamcam - plus a room that meets the stereoscopic geometry requirements, stable upload bandwidth, and optionally interactive toys. Everything else (lighting, furniture, decor) follows the room rules below.
The camera
Live VR cams are stereoscopic fisheye (180-degree, side-by-side); consumer webcams and phones cannot produce that feed. You apply for camera purchase and registration through the Dreamcam Model Hub - the model registration panel is for models who already have the camera installed.
Budget honestly for it: the camera is the main entry investment of VR camming, alongside basic room work. No second-hand consumer VR headset substitutes for it - headsets are what your viewers own, not what you need.
The room (the requirements that decide quality)
The Model Hub's room preparation guide is explicit, and platforms enforce these as quality gates:
- Camera field of view: performance area 1-3 meters from the camera
- Coverage: from 15 m² - the 180-degree frame should read as a room
- Walls: smooth, light-colored, without moiré fringes - fine patterns create shimmering artifacts after de-warping
- No moving objects in frame: curtains, doors, fans - any subtle motion breaks stereoscopic comfort
- Camera position: eye level, so the show plays inside the 180 degrees in front of the lens
- Space: the room should be spacious enough for you to perform within the depth window without drifting out of frame
Lighting: even, front-facing light keeps the stereo pair consistent; hard side-light creates depth-destroying shadows on one eye's view.
Bandwidth and network
Stereoscopic VR streams are heavy - you are effectively broadcasting two synchronized views at high resolution. Practical minimums: a stable upload of several tens of Mbps on a wired connection. Wi-Fi causes exactly the frame drops that make 6K streams look soft; wire the broadcast machine. Test at your target resolution during the hours you plan to broadcast - evening network congestion is real.
Toys and interactivity
- Lovense toys integrate with both platforms' tipping systems (Stripchat flags connected models in its API).
- Kiiroo devices pair device-to-device in the Dreamcam ecosystem.
- Configure priced "control toy" actions in your tip menu - this is how our index (and Stripchat's badge) detects you as interactive. Setup guide: toys and teledildonics.
The 2026 setup checklist
- Camera request / purchase via the Model Hub
- Room: 15+ m², smooth light walls, no moving objects, camera at eye level
- Wired upload line, tested at your broadcast hours
- Model panel: tip menu priced against the measured medians, private band set
- Test broadcast: check your own room in DeoVR/HereSphere and in the Stripchat browser
- Keep the safety and privacy guide in mind before your room is on camera - geoblocks and identifying details are much easier to fix before the first broadcast.
